We schedule what we can do comfortably and enjoyably in a day in the Big Apple without rushing around. We start our day trip to Manhattan with Grand Central Station, and then come out into 42nd Street and Park Avenue to view the Crysler Building and the New York Public Library before taking a bus to the Whitehall Terminal to take a ferry to Staten Island and see Ellis Island, Liberty Island and the Statue of Liberty, cityscapes of Manhattan and the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, the USA’s longest suspension bridge. We return back on the next ferry for more views of the iconic Statue of Liberty and Manhattan skyline before taking a subway to Upper East Manhattan to walk in Central Park and go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where we view a Rodin and Michelangelo exhibition. We then head home, catching a train at 7pm. We arrived at 11am, so if you are staying in Manhattan you can easily add another attraction in the morning and evening. We may not have done NYC in a day but doing all five boroughts would take much longer—as would taking in more sites in Manhattan, of which there are many.
